Jesus in John – rest 4 the Soul retreat

this past weekend i had the absolute blessing of worshipping and hearing from God’s word with over 500 other women at the rest 4 the soul retreat.

in my breakout on “faith in the fallen world” i shared that the only object of our faith is to be Jesus. to prove that He alone is worthy and capable i shared who God showed me Jesus was in each of the chapters in the book of john. i promised some friends in the breakout i would make it easier to find on my blog so here is that list!

  • in chapter one Jesus is the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. 
  •  in chapter two He is the mighty man of miracles.
  • in chapter three Jesus is Savior and the only way to be born again.  
  • in chapter four Jesus is the Living Water.
  • in chapter five He is Healer and equal to God.
  • in chapter six Jesus is the Bread of Life.
  •  in chapter seven Jesus is the Christ.
  •  in chapter eight Jesus is the Light of the world.
  • in chapter nine He makes the blind see.
  • in chapter ten Jesus is the Good Shepherd.
  •  in chapter eleven He is the Resurrection and the Life. 
  • in chapter twelve He is the Son of Man lifted up.
  • in chapter thirteen He is the humble servant. 
  •  in chapter fourteen Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
  • in chapter fifteen He is the True Vine.
  • in chapter sixteen He is Overcomer.
  • in chapter seventeen Jesus prays for us.
  • in chapter eighteen He is called Jesus of Nazareth and King of the Jews.
  • in chapter nineteen Jesus, our Savior, was crucified for us. 
  • in chapter twenty Jesus is ALIVE!!!!
  • in chapter twenty-one Jesus appears to His disciples, tells Peter to feed His sheep, and we learn that Jesus did so many other things that the world could not hold the volumes of books it would take to record them!

certification in children’s ministry (updated with more ways to get info)

2019 will bring a new, challenging, and exciting role to my ministry plate – that of online instructor for a children’s ministry certification program through beadisciple.com. how exciting that i get to create a six week online class on one of my favorite subjects?

one of my great joys comes from getting to know other ministry leaders and talking through practical strategies that will impact kids and families for eternity. to think that i get to do this alongside some amazing other women, is just surreal.

i know there is some incredible training out there and i am so blessed to be a part of some of the premier kidmin conferences. this online certification is yet another effective approach to go a bit deeper in four classes all offered online. pretty exciting right?

the program kicks off in january 2019 and my class will run in the fall. to hear about new dates for individual courses in the certification (this one is IFDC140) click here.  you can fill out to ‘declare their intent’ to complete the certification here and they’ll email anyone who signs up on that form more information about the courses once they get going.

i have just completed my course description, so i thought i would share it below.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AS LEADING SPIRITUAL EDUCATION: An examination of the role of the educator in supporting the faith development of children and families in the congregation including pedagogies, models of ministry, and administrational tasks. Not only will we discover how to intentionally plan and lead long term, but we will examine best solutions to the in-the-trenches children’s ministry elements.

The Preteen Bubble
They really don’t fit in the kids ministry, but are far from finding their place in student ministry. Preteens/tweens teeter on the bubble of in-between which requires specific ministry to meet them right where they are. Together we will discuss this group’s special needs and creative ways to not only equip them with faith, but to creatively engage them to grapple with truth during this special time. You’ll leave not only with info, but ideas to immediately apply back home.

BREAKOUT SESSION B | THURS, OCT 18, 1:30-2:30PM
Gospel-Centered Family Experiences 
From family worship to outside-the-building family experiences, we will explore creative ideas for being intentional about partnering with parents to help make the Gospel the center of the family and church. We won’t just sit, but we will experience some of these ideas that you can easily apply back in your church setting.

BREAKOUT SESSION F | FRI, OCT 19, 3:30-4:30PM
A Discipleship Strategy for Kids and Families
Patterned after a university 101, 201, and 301 class series we will discover a strategy to offer classes where kids can seek Jesus (Gospel class), give them a strong foundation after receiving the Savior (new Christian class) and then study God’s Word for themselves. Not only will these classes impact kid’s lives, but with parent involvement they will build a bridge between church and home.

Gospel @ Center in Kids Ministry – Webinar Replay

okay, y’all, today was such a sweet day in ministry. me and two of my dear friends in ministry from new york to florida, sam luce and jenny funderburke smith, were so honored to launch our first ever Gospel @ center webinar. we weren’t sure if anyone would watch, but not only did a great group tune in, they supplied us with great content with their questions and they were encouraging. i think we all left with a nugget today.
