y’all i am super excited about the parenting conference dawson is hosting at the end of the month.  our minister to young adults was wise enough to book some of the most amazing speakers and our whole discipleship team is on board. these speakers are counselors, parents, and full of wisdom and practical insight in raising kids and pointing them to Jesus. i was so honored to get to hear david at the ETCH conference this year and as a new mom and ministry leader, i couldn’t take notes fast enough. so if you are in the birmingham area, you won’t want to miss this. if you are not in the area, you can learn more about our special guests here and how we are scheduling our parenting day here.

one of the things i love most about the kidmin community is the way that most ministries understand that we are on the same team and are open to sharing any ideas, successes or failures. this is exactly how i stumbled across one of the programs i am most excited to launch today.

i was reading the blog post “imagine this: children in love with the Bible” on wearekidmin.com. i was so blown away and excited and it wasn’t a coincidence that our church was focusing on Bible reading this year. so, i clicked the link to learn more about the eat this book challenge. that’s when i knew that i didn’t need to recreate the wheel on helping kids read the Bible, dema had already done an amazing job and was providing the resource to others.

in my opinion, it was worth every penny. we received a digital file that could be customized (so don’t worry you can start this program anytime), great promotional resources, emails, facebook group, and more. i am sharing this information because several people have seen our promotional posts and have thought i came up with this idea. i wish!!!!

so kidmin friends, if you are looking for a way to get your kids and families into daily Bible reading and memorization so they will fall in love with God through His Word, i can’t recommend eat this book more. i can’t wait to see the way God uses this challenge in the lives of families in dawson kids. thank you dema for your faithfulness and sharing your passion with other kidmin leaders.

i would love to hear how you tackle the hard questions from kids in your ministry. comment below with your ideas.

kids have tough questions about God and Jesus. and if i truly believe they are the church of today, i need to be sure to make time and a safe place for them to ask these questions and receive direction and answers in God’s Word. this is something that in the past was not a priority for me, but after much conviction we made it happen this october.

on sunday morning october 29 our kids studied about thomas’ doubt. we understand that, like thomas, many of us have hard questions about Jesus. so we asked each 1st – 5th-grade life group to submit three questions and boy did we get some great ones.

we grouped these questions into five categories based on the gospel God’s plan for me. along with answers, this helped us point kids to the Gospel throughout this special night.

then we took a wednesday night in collide and invited our new pastor and his wife to spend some time answering these questions with us. i am sharing these videos in a series of blog posts so that parents can continue the conversation at home. we are hoping these will be a great resource for families to refer to God’s Word together.
